Russia assailed at UN Security Council over Ukraine war

Members of the UN Security Council assailed Russia on Thursday for its war in Ukraine, denouncing Moscow's conduct since its irruption seven months ago that has included “ magpie ” attacks on civilians and acts of “ terrible ” sexual violence.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov walked out of the 15- member chamber after delivering a series of unsupported claims, including that the discovery of further than 450 bodies in Bucha was “ offered ”.

He also doubled down on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s allegations that the Ukrainian government endorses “ Nazism ” and indicted Kyiv of “ Russophobia ” by suppressing the rights of Russian- speaking people.

“ We've no visions that moment the fortified forces of Russia and the regulars of Lugansk and Donetsk are being opposed not only by the-Nazi conformations in the Kyiv governance but the military machine of the collaborative West, ” Mr. Lavrov said.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Mr. Putin should be held to regard over what has happened in Ukraine.

“ The very transnational order we have gathered then to uphold is being tattered before our eyes, ” Mr. Blinken told the Security Council in a special session as leaders met at the UN General Assembly in New York.

“ We can not — we won't — let President Putin get down with it, ” he said.

The top US diplomat said it was critical to show that “ no nation can redraw the borders of another by force ”.

Britain's Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said that in a corridor of Ukraine presently under Russian control, civilians are subordinated to torture, arbitrary detention, and forced expatriation to Russia.

“ President Putin’s war has spread difficulty and food instability across the globe plunging millions of the world’s most vulnerable into hunger and shortage, ” Mr. Cleverly said.

“ And formerly again, as we ’ve seen the moment, Russia has sought to deny responsibility. ”

Mr. Lavrov used his speech to denounce the West for its part in the conflict, during which US and European nations have transferred billions of bones

of sophisticated artillery into Ukraine that has been used to kill thousands of Russian dogfaces.

“ purposeful picking of this conflict by the collaborative West remains unpunished — of course, you will not discipline yourself, ” Mr. Lavrov said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba indicted Russia for spreading an “ alluvion of falsehoods ” and prompted confederated nations to hold presto in their support of Ukraine.

“ We must stay united to stop Russia's blackmail and the war on humanity, ” he said.

The council meeting comes after Mr. Putin called up,000 reserve colors and reiterated nuclear pitfalls, saying Russia is prepared to use “ all the means at our disposal ” to defend itself.

Karim Khan, a prosecutor for the International Criminal Courts, spoke to the Security Council about the suffering he has seen in Ukraine during his three passages there since the February 24 irruption.

“ When I went to Bucha and went behind St Andrew's Church, the bodies I saw weren't fake, ” he said. “ When I walked the thoroughfares of Borodyanka the destruction that I saw of structures and seminaries was each too real. ”

Mr. Khan said his platoon was still gathering substantiation and engaged in “ occasionally veritably meticulous work to grapple with the data, to separate verify from fabrication and to make a picture of what actually happened”.

Before the war, Russia had forged closer ties with China, but the US has eaten what it sees as a conservative tone from Beijing, which has not transferred significant military inventories to Moscow.

“ The precedence is for the parties to renew dialogue without preconditions, ” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the Security Council.
