Shock and horror after Russia's wave of strikes across Ukraine

The once many hours have seen surge after surge of explosions, not just then in Kyiv, but each across this vast country, from Lviv in the west to Kharkiv in the east and Odesa in the south.

For those of us who were then when Russia's full-scale irruption began in February, there is an element of déjà vu. We have been told to spend as important time as we can in the basement, as further attacks, using dumdums and drones, are anticipated.

But this is also different. The explosions in Kyiv are much near to the center. Not distant thumps from the cities, but loud reverberations close to thoroughfares and locales we have come to know well in the once eight months.
It's delicate to tell what's being targeted, but a statement from Ukraine's ministry of culture said galleries and the Philharmonic structure had been hit.

One videotape circulating on social media showed a huge crater in a children's playground.

It's been a long time since so numerous metropolises were targeted at the same time. Moscow was supposedly determined to make the biggest possible statement.

Two days agone, social media was swamped with vids and memes as Ukrainians hectically celebrated the attack on the ground linking Russia with the Crimean Peninsula.
Moment, the vids are all of the shell-shocked residers, fiery debris, and critical warnings. Any sense of swoon is gone.

It feels ineluctable, but that does not lessen the shock. Fear is formerly again stalking the capital.
